Christo Moskovsky (Христо Московски) is a Bulgarian-Australian linguist, academic and author. Christo was born in Sofia, Bulgaria's capital, in 1958. In the early 1990s, following the collapse of Soviet socialism in Europe, he and his family emigrated to Australia, where he completed a doctoral degree in linguistics. Moskovsky subsequently gained a tenured lectureship in linguistics at the University of Newcastle, NSW, where he remained until his retirement at the end of 2021. He has since published two books: a semi-autobiographical novel depicting the social and political upheaval in Bulgaria in the years after the fall of the Berlin Wall; and, a socio-political analysis of contemporary Australia.
